Abstract

The data of carcass characteristics (CC), feeding condition (FC), shipping method (SM),reproduction management (RM) from 244,443 carcasses were used to study these data on themarket carcass price. In CC, the carcass price of female or barrows was significantly (p<0.05)higher than male. To get higher price, the carcass had a backfat thickness range from 15 mm to29 mm and a carcass weight range from 91 to 95kg was recommended. The equations show thatbackfat thickness and carcass weight in CC measures, have a significant effect on market carcassprice, because the coefficient of determinations were high (90.57% and 90.23%, respectively).There were significant differences in FC, SM, and RM parameters, however, the correlationcoefficient of these parameters were low. As a consequence, the measurements of backfat thicknessand carcass weight may be applied for the assessment of the market carcass price in pig.
